Summary: The Introduction to Illustrator course provides an introduction to participants with little or no experience of Illustrator. It will run through Illustrator 's basic features, enabling the participant to be able to start using the program effectively.

Pre-requisites: All attendees to the Introduction to Illustrator course must be proficient in either the Macintosh or Windows environments. You are not required to have previous experience of Illustrator but any exposure to drawing or layout programs will be beneficial.

Start & Finish Times: 10am to 5pm

Objectives: Upon completion of this Introduction course delegates will be able to list and identify the components and features that make up the Illustrator interface. Attendees will be introduced to the drawing tools that Illustrator has to offer, and learn how to modify both shape and colour options. The course covers the use of layers, Graphs and covers the essentials of preparing Illustrator files for output.

Colour RGB / CMYK, Colour palette, Adding / editing colour, Process, spot and global colours, Sampling colour in current artwork, Filling and stroking, Gradients

Transformations Scaling, rotating, reflection, Free distort, Envelope distort, Step and repeat

Objects and drawing Selecting objects, Reshaping objects, Drawing lines and geometric shapes, Applying colour fills and stokes, Object transformation, Object duplication

Type Adding type, Type to outlines, Shaped type areas, Character formatting, Paragraph formatting, Text on a path

Graphs and charts Creating and editing basic graphs, Column and bar chart, Graph options
