Pre-requisites: All attendees must be proficient in either the Macintosh or Windows environments. This course does not require the attendee to have prior experience of Photoshop although a review of the product tutorial would be of benefit.
Duration: 1-Day Objectives: The course will enable participants to identify and describe the component features that collectively make up the application. This includes creating Paths and applying layers and filters. This course is offered as a generic course and is not designed around a single application of Photoshop in a particular arena. Who should attend: This course is ideal for anyone wishing to use Photoshop for the creation or manipulation of graphics for Web or print processes. If you are required to modify or enhance graphic images and photographs, then this course will guide you through the features that Photoshop has to offer. Overview of ContentAn Introduction to Photoshop: Differentiate between bitmap and vector graphics. Image file formats. Photoshop palettes and tools. Screen layout including rulers, guides and grids, the use of marquee, lasso, and magic wand tools to select parts of an image in various ways. Reposition a selection marquee. Deselect a selection. Move and duplicate a selection. Constrain the movement of a selection. Adjust a selection with the arrow keys. Add, subtract and intersect selection outlines. Rotate, scale, and transform a selection outline. Combine selection tools. Marquee, Lasso, and Magic Wand tools: Use the marquee, lasso, and magic wand tools to select parts of an image in various ways. Reposition a selection marquee. Deselect a selection. Move and duplicate a selection. Constrain the movement of a selection. Adjust a selection with the arrow keys. Add to and subtract from selections. Rotate, scale, and transform a selection. Combine selection tools. Crop an image. Layers, Layer Effects and Gradients: Layer palette, organise your artwork on layers. Create a new layer. View and hide layers. Select layers. Remove artwork on layers. Reorder layers to change the placement of artwork in the image. Apply blending modes to layers. Link layers and create clipping groups. Apply a gradient to a layer. Add text and layer effects to a layer. Save a copy of the file with the layers flattened. Type Tools: The type tool, type mask tool, vertical and horizontal type tools, what is anti-aliasing, what is leading kerning & tracking, layer effects and blending modes, rendering layers, preserve transparency effect, layer effects such as drop shadow and bevel and emboss. Paint: The Airbrush Tool, Modify a brush tip, Create and Load a New Tip, The paint Bucket Tool, The Eraser Tool, Using / Creating Gradients.
